Oncology Nutrition Support in Portland, Oregon
Nourishment that works alongside your cancer treatment, so you feel as strong and supported as possible.
Chelsie Moore, MS, CNS, LDN, is a functional medicine clinician and integrative nutritionist in Portland, OR, who provides nutrition care to complement cancer treatment. She helps people manage treatment-related symptoms such as nausea, appetite and taste changes, fatigue, digestive issues and weight changes, and supports recovery afterward. Additionally, she support women with post cancer treatment recovery. She sees clients in person in Portland and virtually.
A cancer diagnosis brings a flood of decisions, appointments and advice, much of it conflicting when it comes to food. You don't have to sort through it alone. My role is to work alongside your oncology team and help you stay nourished through treatment and beyond.
Does This Sound Familiar?
Cancer treatment affects every person differently, but many share similar struggles with food and eating. You might be experiencing:
Nausea, or food that suddenly tastes or smells wrong
Little or no appetite, or feeling full after a few bites
Mouth sores, dry mouth or difficulty swallowing
Constipation, diarrhea or other digestive changes
Deep fatigue that makes cooking and eating feel like too much
Unintended weight loss or weight gain, or loss of muscle and strength
Confusion about what to eat, what to avoid, and which supplements are safe
Well-meaning advice from every direction, and fear of getting it "wrong"
Finishing treatment and wondering, "Now what?"
There is no perfect way to eat through cancer treatment, and nothing you ate caused this. What you need is practical, compassionate support that meets you where you are, on good days and hard ones.
Why Nutrition Matters So Much During and After Cancer Treatment
Nutrition doesn't replace cancer treatment. What it can do is help your body cope with it. Good nutrition care during treatment aims to:
Maintain strength and muscle: treatment and reduced appetite can lead to muscle loss, which affects energy, function and recovery
Support treatment tolerance: staying nourished and hydrated can help you feel better able to get through treatment as planned
Ease side effects: targeted food strategies can reduce the impact of nausea, taste changes, mouth soreness and digestive issues
Prevent and correct deficiencies: treatment can affect how you eat, digest and absorb nutrients
Support recovery: your body needs adequate protein, energy and nutrients to heal and rebuild
Needs also change along the way. What helps during active treatment is often different from what supports you in recovery and survivorship, so your plan should change with you.
Nutrition Care That Complements Your Treatment
My care is designed to work alongside your medical treatment, never in place of it. Everything is personalized to your diagnosis, treatment plan, symptoms and preferences.

After treatment: rebuilding strength, supporting digestion and energy, and creating a sustainable, nourishing way of eating for long-term health
Working With Your Oncology Team
I coordinate with your oncologist and care team whenever possible. Some supplements and foods can interact with chemotherapy, radiation and other therapies, so I review everything you're taking, and any supplement recommendation is checked with your oncology team first. If you have questions about a product or diet you've read about, bring them. We'll look at the evidence together, without judgment.

Meet Chelsie Moore
I'm Chelsie Moore, a functional medicine clinician and integrative dietitian nutritionist, and the founder of Moore Integrative Health in Portland, Oregon. I work primarily with women on hormone health, fatigue, mood and sleep, blood sugar regulation, perimenopause, and autoimmune concerns.
I hold a master's degree, two years of clinical residency, a certification in behavior change from the Yale School of Public Health, and I'm in on-going continuing education with Aviva Romm, MD with a pending certification in Integrative & Functional Women's Health. That behavior-change background shapes everything I do. A plan is only useful if it fits your real life, so we build one you can actually follow.
During cancer treatment, you deserve care that is steady, kind and grounded in evidence.
Oncology Nutrition FAQs
Can nutrition treat or cure cancer?
No. Nutrition does not treat or cure cancer, and it doesn't replace medical treatment. Nutrition care supports your body during and after treatment by helping you maintain strength, manage side effects and recover.
What should I eat during chemotherapy or radiation?
There's no single diet for everyone. The priority is usually getting enough protein, calories and fluids in ways you can tolerate, then adjusting for symptoms like nausea, taste changes or digestive issues. Your plan depends on your treatment, symptoms and preferences.
Are supplements safe during cancer treatment?
Some are, and some can interfere with chemotherapy, radiation or other therapies. Always tell your oncology team about everything you take. I review your supplements with you and check any recommendation with your oncology team first.
Do you work with my oncologist?
Yes. My care complements your medical treatment, and I coordinate with your oncology team whenever possible.
Can you help after treatment ends?
Yes. Many people need support rebuilding strength, energy and digestion after treatment, and want guidance on eating well for long-term health.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. I see clients in person in Portland, Oregon, and virtually.
Do you take insurance?
Moore Integrative Health is an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill you may submit for possible reimbursement, and HSA/FSA funds can often be used.
